Wayne Farquharson

Wayne is a Fire Safety Specialist with over twenty seven (27) years of experience. A Former Senior Deputy Superintendent and Deputy Chief Fire Safety Officer at the Jamaica Fire Brigade, Fire Prevention Division - promoted to varying ranks from October 1990 to August 2005. Over the years his responsibilities included but were not limited to building plan review, fire safety inspection and enforcement, quality control assessment, forensic fire investigations, testing construction materials used in buildings per use case and training fire fighters island wide in general fire safety applications in preparation for optimal skill application in varying professional careers when the local Fire Sector is developed in alignment with international standards. Wayne introduced international codes and standards as the guiding principles and basis for the approval process for building plans, building Fire certifications among other aspects in the Jamaica Fire Brigade. He conceptualized, developed, implemented and introduced to the nation the annual Fire Safety Awareness week celebration, Fire hydrant maintenance program, the Emergency Medical Services, the training method and process of certification for buildings, training and certification of their staff as well as wrote the Fire Prevention training manual still in use to date. Currently, Wayne B. Farquharson operates a boutique type Fire Safety consultancy business known as Farbo Fire Safety Consultants located at Barrett Drive, Kingston.
